The dogs don't have a home
until you open yours.
Sandy Dog Rescue is 100% foster-based. That means we can only save a dog when someone opens their home.
Foster a dog
Fostering is the single most important element of our rescue.
We pride ourselves on having strong relationships with our foster families.
We intentionally work with a small, close-knit group of fosters to get to know you and your foster dog.
We want to be with you every step of the way.
We're looking for committed fosters who can stay with a dog until they find their forever home.
Consistency is everything for a dog coming out of a shelter.
That said, life happens, and we'll occasionally need shorter-term fosters too.
Whatever you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
We cover:
Vet bills · vaccinations · spay/neuter · food · our full support every step of the way.
You provide:
Your home · your couch · beach walks · patience · and a whole lot of love.
Show up however you can. It all counts.
You don't need experience, a big schedule, or a yard. You just need to care. Here are four ways to plug in & one application covers all of them.
-
Our dogs need rides — from shelters to foster homes, from foster homes to vet appointments, between drop-offs and pickups across SoCal. If you have a car and a couple of free hours, you're already qualified.
-
Getting a dog to and from a vet visit is one of the most practical ways to support a foster family. You're giving a foster parent a break and making sure a dog gets the care they need.
-
Some of our fosters need a little extra support especially when life gets busy. Taking a dog out for a walk, a beach run, or just some time outside makes a real difference for the dog and for the foster family holding it down.

We show up at adoption events, pop-ups, and community days across Southern California. We need people to help set up, handle dogs, talk to potential adopters, and just be a warm, welcoming face for the organization. Bonus: you get to hang out with a lot of really good dogs.
